Character name: Lucrezia Noin
Fandom: Gundam Wing
Timeline: Post Endless Waltz, Pre Frozen Teardrop
Age: 20 – 21, born After Colony 176
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths:
Noin is a military trained mobile suit pilot, capable of dealing with extreme G forces, zero gravity or minimal gravity, and trained to respond minimally to pain, both emotionally and physically (particularly emphasized by being female in a typically male dominated system – she has worked extra hard to get where she has gotten and is not one to give up without a fight). Her training focuses primarily on defensive tactics, reflecting her personal philosophy – she doesn't quite always enjoy aiming to kill, but if she has to, she will.
Headcanon wise due to the assumed advancement of sciences and medical work and also that she passed the tests to get into the military (and whatever they did to the soldiers afterwards), she likely has a fairly good immune system but it is unknown if in the recesses of the ship she maintains the same resistance – especially considering that there are thousands of variants, for example, of the common cold. Other viruses, bacteria, and diseases can be the same way, as Noin, in the end, is simply a human being.

She's been trained to maintain and keep control of various mobile suits, making her an efficient grease monkey and someone with an intermediate knowledge of mechanics. Headcanon wise, for me, this spreads into her dabbling on various makes and models of automobiles, foraying into space shuttle handling and maneuvering on the ground and in space, hand to hand combat, knives and small personal firearms with a minor ability in actual swordplay. Noin also has the ability to lead and control various numbers of troops, though most of her experience in that area has been more with actually teaching the tactics rather than continuing on to use them in the field and leading the same soldiers. Her background is also slightly different in the sense that she has had more simulation training and gone through more drills, so her sense of military protocol is much stronger than some. Noin also has extensive interest in the stars and has shown to be quite knowledgeable about constellations and positions of various stars.

She also has a strong sense of camaraderie, is extremely loyal, and is very much about those who she considers to be her family because of her background. This does not mean however that she will always sit down and take something that is genuinely wrong or that makes her angry. Pushed and she'll show how quickly she's from Italian nobility.

Head canon wise, Gundam Wing is a multilingual story, not just one so Noin speaks multiple languages having come from Europe and from the nobility – most notably she speaks Italian and English but over the years after she ran away from home, she was taught French by her friend Zechs at the Lake Victoria Academy where the two were stationed while she taught him Italian. It is possible she speaks German and some Russian as well.

How would they use their abilities?: Most likely try to find any contacts that she had before, trying to understand and assess the situation – maybe even move on to try to establish or get involved in a force that she can be of some aid to. She likes to work and be involved, just sitting there when she could potentially help doesn't go over well with her. However, this doesn't mean that she can't take it easy. Days off, headcanon wise, are spent either relaxing or relaxing by working on any of the aforementioned cars and mobile suits she owns.

Appearance: 165cm (5ft 5in), roughly 54 1/2kg to 59kg (120 – 130 pounds; this is headcanon because no military organization would ever allow someone with her original weight in/to stay) with shortly cropped black hair and slight bangs to give her more of a trace amount of femininity and intense purple eyes. Having more of an androgynous figure, Noin is slender but strongly built, covered in a few old minor scars and is sinewy, not very muscular, but that belies someone who has excellent stamina and the mind to match. She prefers to wear unisex clothing to anything that's relaxed and comfortable despite her ability to look smart in a uniform. She can, however, clean up nicely and wear a dress if needed be but she does a little better with pantsuits. Special occasions mean dresses. http://www.gundamofficial.com/www_ac/ew/mecha-chara/lucrezia/info_chara.html

Personality/Background:
Noin has a tomboyish approach to things, both in speech, action and what she'll wear. She prefers it this way – sex or gender doesn't make a difference in a fight, what matters is what you do on the battlefield. Or in your life, for that matter. At least it shouldn't.

Noin is determined and steadfastly loyal while also very aware of the pains of others. She can be headstrong, however, and generally has a good idea of what the “right thing to do” is, but she doesn't always act on it because sometimes she believes in people being able to come to the right choices themselves. She can also be harsh and commanding in an effort to teach someone a lesson, and finds it to be most effective when they aren't dead and actually have an opportunity to survive and perhaps actually contribute to the world. She typically attempts to be well informed but does have very good instincts when it comes to making strategic plans or guessing perhaps where or what someone will do next and why. She enjoys being active and does not always like having to stand by when she could possibly help, motivated strongly by her sense of duty. She is hard headed and stubborn, and, headcanon, this leads to her cussing in various languages. She can also be demure and polite but she doesn't resist well when someone deserves it and doesn't tolerate cheekiness from those who she personally trained or that she expects otherwise from. She doesn't hold grudges very long, but it doesn't mean she'll straight up like a person.

Her sense of loyalty can also lead her to do stupid things, things others would not do, but Noin in a sense has a naïve way of perceiving how people work and function – because she knew a few very well, she sometimes assumes everyone else will possibly respond in the same manner but can also compensate and change once she realizes it is not true. She can also have a bit of a “mother bear” reaction to those that she takes under her wing or protects until it possibly may end up even killing her – again, extremely loyal.

Personality add ons
Noin has begun to learn that she cannot take the risks she used to: she has people to live for, causes and purposes to fulfill. Beyond that, she is learning more to live for herself, learning to take it slow and learning to relax. The mother bear mentality doesn't need to exist as much, she can wait and it's okay to wait. She's learning to take more personal time for herself, to not be so completely caught up in the job that there is nothing else. Her personal feelings have more time to come first and the results of it are that she is including, subconsciously, a fair amount of individuals into a sort of family.

Noin's counting habit remains, but it is in reference merely to how long she has been away from home rather than the reasons for it before.

Background
Noin is of Italian nobility and had been an involved pilot and officer of the OZ Specials, a group of specially trained, hand picked mobile suit pilots that later go on to become one of the primary antagonists of the Gundam Wing series, since a very young age, even when it was becoming established. It was there that she met Zechs Merquise, a young man with a dark past that left him with a thirst for revenge (in fact, Zechs isn't even his real name, just a name he adopted to be able to find some way to get his revenge on those that murdered his home and family), and Treize Khushrenada, a bright young man with idealistic passions and goals from the nobility, and formed a lasting connection. Being such an apt student, she was to hold the first rank in her graduating class and also the top student, but opted to hold back and give that ranking to Zechs because she hated war and wanted him to succeed. Noin remained at the Lake Victoria Academy, a place where they trained promising young mobile suit pilots and also began the manufacturing of suits, and became adept at training future mobile suit pilots and entered the war once that area of quiet was attacked by a rebelling Gundam, a highly specialized, powerful and unique form of mobile suits made of Gundanium.

She went on to help Zechs’s attempts to fulfill his own needs (such as battling the pilot of the Gundam 01, Wing Gundam, and helping him keep it secret) and ultimately ended up protecting his sister at Treize’s suggestion, Relena Darlian, a young woman who was for the most part unaware of her past and recently lost her diplomat stepfather who used to work for her real father, whom Zechs had many spent many years avoiding. Maintaining a powerful edge and becoming Relena's guardian, she helped the young monarch reestablish herself in the Sanc Kingdom, a nation that advocated and practiced absolute pacifism that she would have originally ruled had her family, the Peacecrafts, not been destroyed when she was a child, and generally try to keep her out of trouble.

She goes to outer space with other gundam pilots to see if she can perhaps make a difference there while watching the world seemingly unify under a “puppet” figurehead, thew newly titled Queen Relena Peacecraft, and is met with more impossible odds as the White Fang force appears, a group dedicated to the eradication of Earth's influence in the Colonies in space and later to the eradication of Earth itself. Noin is shocked and hurt when she finds out Zechs is their leader. She and the pilots clash with White Fang and Zechs numerous times until the climax of their conflict results in Treize, who has become the new “puppet” of Romefeller, an aristocratic and noble bloodline based power with interests in controlling everything, getting killed after challenging Chang Wufei, the pilot of the upgraded Gundam 05, Gundam Shenlong. It’s also the one that attacked Noin back when she was at Lake Victoria. She personally watched as Zechs was supposedly killed in the remnants of Libra while piloting Epyon, a gundam created by Treize, as he attempted to kill or either be killed by Heero Yuy, another of the gundam pilots (there are only 5 total from the colonies) in the Gundam Wing Zero.

Noin maintained a steadfast belief that Zechs was still alive and worked towards maintaining and keeping peace as part of the Preventers, a group formed by Lady Une and the new democratically elected president in keeping peace and preventing war from ever arising again, in the Colonies and on Earth as the two unified under the banner of ESUN – Earth Sphere Unified Nations. A true final battle emerged the next Christmas in AC 196 where Maremaia, Treize Khushrenada's daughter, brainwashed by her grandfather, Dekim Barton of the Barton Foundation, the original family and group that had intended to use the gundams to start up war and declare independence for the colonies and attack the earth violently, called up war again. They resolved this conflict without much bloodshed and Noin remained with Zechs once he reappeared as Preventer Wind. The gundams were subsequently destroyed and Noin and Zechs set out alone into space to begin a terraforming project of Mars to make it habitable for the future generations.

And Previously, on The Thor:
Not only did Zechs and Noin begin the complex framework for the eventual mass habitation of Mars, but it was stopped midway by an unfortunate encounter with a pack of meteors (an ironic joke from God or some other being, it seemed) that ripped Mars and Earth to disjointed pieces and, once the two of them came to, Noin was in intensive care and Zechs had assumed all was lost, drinking himself into a painful stupor.

In the whirlwind of activity that followed once Noin and Zechs found each other (via a rather bizarre accidental posting with Noin being higher than a kite on something that could have been a very distant descendant of Percocet), she married the man, helped reestablish Preventer with him and her friend, Lady Une who had been on the Thor for a time longer than they, and began to work towards actually living more like a civilian than a soldier.

On a personal level during that that time, Noin began to get in touch with herself, learning the boundaries of her relationships and learning to let go rather than rely on the soldier that she had been trained to be. She made contact with Garrus, a bizarre alien of a sort she wasn't sure (he seemed to have a fair amount of military background), and Star Fox (an anthropomorphic fox who was rumored to be a brilliant pilot) to work against the Purists who were threatening the lives of the people who had found their way onto Thor, collected by the ship for some unknown reason. She made and still holds dear a close relationship with a man by the name of Sho, someone she very much guesses (knows?) is a sort of gangster, and very much reminds her of “her boys”, the young men she used to train back when she used to be a piloting instructor, let alone he reminds her of the life she had before when she was much younger.

The woman also uncovered numerous pilots she had known from before, Wufei, Heero, Quatre, Dorothy, Treize, and even her new husband's sister, Relena, on the ship, also being there for Milliardo when his sister strangely disappeared as many of the others seemed to do.

More or less Noin then lived from day to day, until a certain point in which she just...wormholed. Coming back, her memories are a bit fuzzy, but for the most part she remembers incidents as if they were yesterday and has no concept that time has passed, or even that she disappeared.

Why should that character be in this game: N/A

Why do you want to continue their history here: Because I enjoyed my previous time in Thor and I've missed the friends and the game itself a great deal. Besides, I like playing this character, it's a habit.

For applicants considering an alternate version of a character already in game, please use this as your chance to explain the key differences between your character and the one already in play: N/A

1st person sample: (from the previous stint in Thor)
[A silent hum echoes dully in the ears as the screen is idly flicked on, an idle corner not lighting up due to technical issues, blotting out most of the REC and battery symbol.]

[A figure sits at a table, arms crossed with a blue and gold emblazoned jacket on. Defiant expression and intense purpled eyes partially covered by bangs. She. She looks nonplussed, awkward. The rest of the room around her is dark, silent, and there is a faint echo from every time that the mic picks up her breathing, slightly distorted and snowy.]

It's been two months.
What kind of months they've been, I'm not sure, but they've been two months.
Silence on the radar, low hum of machinery working -

[A pause. She looks aside, relaxes her posture and leans back into her chair before moving forward, closer to the screen. A smile now.]

And a lot of goddamn red.
Red from Martian dust – it gets everywhere, into everything.
It peels after a while.

[She picks a little at her hands, rubbing them as she mulls over the red that clearly has stained there.]

Gear breaks down every now and then too.
Sometimes I think I hear something at night...not sure if it terrifies me; could be just the rain.

[She chuckles, shakes her head and leans forward even closer, whispering softly.]

I don't need to count anymore.

[Fingers reach up, fumble slightly and the screen goes snowy.]

3rd person sample: (from the previous stint in Thor)
There it was, silence. Defying, endless silence. But nothing to be understood, to be felt, to -
A forceful heave of breath. Remember to breathe. Always remember to breathe. It's just space. It's...beautiful out here.

An emblazoned red and black space suit, the glint of light off of it making it nearly impossible to see the face inside the helmet that maintained the delicate atmosphere from the frigid cold snap of outer space. Fingers and covered arms halfway jammed into the wiring and through the outer skin of a pale white shuttle that hung above a planet made of red, the figure had paused to absorb. Reflect.

Noin didn't completely miss earth, this great adventure to the stars was unlike anything else she could have hoped for - a secret project, some time to herself and...well. The rest.

A shift and the reflection of the planet faded from the visor, revealing a tired but determined woman underneath, a brilliant smile making her features glow with the incandescent ripple of the sun's light.

It was so easy to forget what you were supposed to be doing when you were faced with something like this. Look at this - the stars, the planet's surface - soon, everything, soon, everyone...!

Excitement filled her and she let out a yell - a sound of triumph and relief.

Home. That's what this feels like. Home.
